Text Dubbing
Overview
Starting from version 2.0.0, the plugin offers a new Text Dubbing feature designed to enhance immersive reading on PC. Unlike other plugins that automatically convert all text on a webpage to speech, this plugin lets you selectively choose which text to dub.
The plugin provides two main modes:
- Dub the text where your mouse pointer is located.
- Manually select specific text on the page to dub.
Enabling the Text Dubbing Feature
To use Text Dubbing, you first need to enable it within the plugin and save your settings. By default, this feature is disabled.
- Open the voice selection interface in the plugin.
- Locate the Text Dubbing option at the bottom.
- Enable the option and save your settings.
- After enabling, you’ll see the following icon on the right side of the webpage:
Starting the Dubbing Process
- Default Hotkey:
Alt + P
- Hover your mouse over the text you want to dub or manually highlight the specific text.
Because of browser restrictions, audio cannot be played without user interaction. Therefore, the first time you initiate text dubbing, you’ll see a confirmation dialog. Once you confirm, dubbing will begin, and no further confirmation dialogs will appear in subsequent uses.
Pause/Resume Playback
- Hotkey:
Alt + O
You can pause or resume playback at any point. This feature does not depend on where your mouse is located.
Changing the Default Hotkeys
In the settings panel where you enabled Text Dubbing, there is a link to modify your hotkeys. Click it to choose different shortcut keys according to your preference.
Webpage Text Caching
Azure TTS results are cached on the server to prevent repeat billing for the same content. This helps you save on costs when revisiting or re-dubbing text you’ve already processed.
